Outgoing human resources minister V Sivakumar bids farewell to his ministry after he was the only cabinet member to be dropped following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s reshuffle today.
The DAP leader also apologised to those under the ministry who dealt with him during his time in office.
“I apologise to agencies, officials or any party that has dealt with me in the Human Resources Ministry if there have been any mistakes on my part during my tenure as minister,” he said in a statement.
Sivakumar (above) expressed his gratitude to all the ministry agencies, stating that many successes have been achieved.
“I would like to extend a thousand thanks to all the members of the Human Resources Ministry who helped me a lot, and always tried to help me in leading the ministry.
“The ministry members are always concerned and proactive in improving the human resources scenario in the country.
“Thank you to all the ministry agencies who are always open to cooperating with me and all parties for the excellence of human resources in Malaysia.
“The cooperation between the ministry and all agencies has made so many achievements in just one year under my supervision, and I am truly proud of all of you,” he added.
In May, Sivakumar landed in MACC’s crosshairs over investigations involving the recruitment of foreign workers. Subsequently, five of his officers implicated in the scandal were terminated.
It was earlier reported that the DAP deputy secretary-general accepted the prime minister’s decision to drop him from the cabinet line-up.
In his statement, Sivakumar also thanked Anwar for allowing him the opportunity to head a ministry and congratulated his successor Steven Sim.
