PETALING JAYA: Only about 1,000 consumer accounts have yet to have their water restored following Tuesday’s cut in supply.
Penang Water Supply Corporation CEO K Pathmanathan said they were currently trying to restore water supply to Balik Pulau Hospital, Emerald Park, Tingkat Relau, Sunway Cassia, Setia Sky Vista, Flat Lily and Vista Condominium in the Barat Daya district.
Water tankers had been sent to all affected areas, Bernama reported.
Pathmanathan believed the 1,000 accounts had still not obtained water because hundreds of empty water tanks had to be refilled first and the Christmas preparations.
The Sungai Dua water treatment plant and three main pump stations at Bukit Dumbar, Bukit Gedung and Teluk Kumbar are being fully utilised to pump treated water to the Barat Daya district, he added.
Pathmanathan said water supply restoration had reached 99%, or 199,000 out of 200,000 affected accounts, as of 5am today.
Restoration work began at 2pm last Friday after repairs were carried out on a main water pipe at the bottom of Sungai Perai, Butterworth, that burst on Tuesday. - FMT
