The Association of Commissioners of Oaths Malaysia (Pesuma) chairperson Yusrizal Zainol Abidin said the group is set to lodge a police report tomorrow over a video titled “MB Kedah sasau Langkah Dubai Gagal”.
According to Yusrizal, there are elements in the video which was uploaded by account holder “Kucing Tanah” that impinge upon the credibility of Malaysian Commissioners of Oaths.
“We are deeply concerned by the statements and allegations made by the YouTube influencer that touch on the process, payment and preparation of a Statutory Declarations which questions the credibility, accountability and the integrity of the oath commissioners who have been appointed by the chief justice.
"I, accompanied by our legal bureau head and other committee members, will make a police report at the Dang Wangi police station tomorrow at 3pm for the authorities to investigate the statement and validity of the allegations made in the video,” Yusrizal told Malaysiakini.
Yusrizal said the influencer claimed that with RM5 you can get the stamp of the commissioner of oath and that the SD worth RM5 could be used to change the government.
“The fee is not RM5 and SDs are legal documents subject to the Statutory Declaration Act. He is trivialising and smearing the legal system.
“If the allegations were true, we would like the police to investigate which commissioners of oaths are doing such things," he said.
He added that Pesuma has around 500 members and is an organisation registered under the Registrar of Societies, with membership comprising commissioners of oaths who have been appointed by the chief justice under section 11, Courts of Justice Act 1964 and Rules Commissioner of Oaths 2018.
Yesterday, Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Noor, who is also PAS election director, claimed that Perikatan Nasional has “sufficient” SDs to unseat Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s coalition government.
The same claim was made by controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin who said that the opposition has garnered 120 SDs through the Dubai Move to topple the coalition government.
However, a review of the allegations by Raja Petra - and the documents he held aloft in a video - found that some claims don't hold up. - Mkini
