Cop charged with rape of underaged girl, extorting victim's boyfriend

A police officer claimed trial to four criminal charges linked to the rape of an underaged girl earlier this month.

Alongside a fellow police officer, he also pleaded not guilty to extorting the girl's teenage boyfriend out of RM500.

Muhammad Fazrul Razzi was charged at the Ampang Sessions Court this afternoon with committing the offences against the 17-year-old girl in a patrol car within the Ampang area around 10.30pm on Jan 9.

The 31-year-old with the rank of lance corporal was charged with two counts of rape under Section 376(1) and 377CA of the Penal Code, as well as with sexual intercourse against the order of nature under Section 377C of the Penal Code.

He was also charged with sexual physical assault on the underaged victim, per Section 14(A) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The rape charge under Section 376(1) carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment. Under Section 377CA, Fazrul may be imprisoned for up to 30 years and whipped.

The accused may also be jailed for up to 20 years under Section Section 377C.

The married father-of-one also faces a maximum 20-year jail sentence and whipping over Section 14(A).

Sessions Court judge Norshila Kamaruddin allowed Fazrul to be released on RM20,000 bail with one surety and ordered him not to speak to the victim.

Extortion charge

Later, before the Ampang Magistrates’ Court, Fazrul and another police officer Adib Aikal Shahrul Nizam, 24, pleaded not guilty to one count of extorting the girl’s boyfriend, who is also 17, into paying the duo RM500.

The duo were accused of threatening the teenage boy with spreading a video of the couple kissing if he did not pay the police.

The two police officers were alleged to have committed the offence in Ampang around 10.09pm on the same night of the purported sexual assault on the teenage girl.

The duo may be jailed for up to 10 years, fined, whipped, or a combination of the two penalties under Section 384 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Amalina Basirah Md Top allowed each of the two officers to be released on RM4,000 bail with one surety.

Deputy public prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad prosecuted.
