Dubai Move: PN activists want cops to quiz them

Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris and pro-Perikatan Nasional social media influencer Salim Iskandar want police to record their statements over an alleged plot to topple the government.

The trio will be heading to the Setapak police station in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon after Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain implicated them in the Dubai Move.

In a Facebook post, Badrul (above, left), better known as Chegubard, said police have not summoned him over the matter.

However, he claimed that since the police had “slandered” them over their alleged link to the plot, he together with Wan Muhammad (Papagomo), and Salim would go to the police station at 3pm.

“We will ask the police to record our statements,” he added.

Badrul also stated that the term Dubai Move itself was the invention of Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director-general Ismail Yusop, who claimed that PN leaders and government officials had met in the United Arab Emirates capital.

Report against Anwaraide

Several PN leaders have denied the existence of such a move despite claims circulating that the opposition has sufficient statutory declarations to oust Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Badrul said he would also lodge a police report against the prime minister and his political aide Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin for, among others, “interfering with the process of parliamentary democracy and causing instability in the country”.

He added that the report against the prime minister would also encompass the allegation of an attempt to bribe the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to unseat the government.

Anwar Ibrahim

On Jan 9, the police chief said the trio is being investigated under Section 124C of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

Razarudin said the main suspect is blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin but since he is in London, police will quiz others instead.

Yesterday, Anwar dismissed the Dubai Move as an attempt to “hoodwink” opposition supporters so they do not lose their spirit.

The prime minister also believes that the opposition does not have the numbers to bring a vote of no confidence against him in Parliament. - Mkini
