MELAKA: Police have arrested an Indonesian man for allegedly killing his employer at a house on an oil palm plantation in Sungai Udang on Dec 22.

Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit said the 25-year-old suspect was arrested in a raid on a house in Bandar Sultan Sulaiman, Klang, at about 4am on Dec 30.

He said the body of the 71-year-old male employer was found in the first room of the plantation house, with two wounds to the back of his head, at about 1.20am on Dec 27.

The man’s son had been trying to contact him since Dec 22 before lodging  a police report four days later. It was first categorised as a missing person’s case.

The body was discovered when police inspected the plantation house with his son.

“The son’s Ford Ranger and the victim’s belongings, including his shoulder bag, mobile phone and Touch ‘n Go card, were missing,” Christopher said in a statement today.

He said the police seized several items, including a hammer believed to have been used in the murder.

He said the incident may have been sparked when the employer scolded the suspect.

Christopher said the victim’s mobile phone was believed to have been sold to a shop in Bukit Rambai, and the suspect later took a bus to Klang to meet a friend. - FMT
