KLANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government's effort to penalise those who were involved in corruption, including prominent figures, should be lauded.
During his speech at the National Ponggal Festival 2024, he said the move was important to safeguard the taxpayers' money and not allow certain figures to take advantage and abuse their power.
"It's weird for me, because (these efforts) should be lauded... because it's not easy to investigate these Tuns. It's easy to investigate the village head, Tamil school teachers, but it's not easy to investigate all these tycoons.
"But for the sake of the people, I will continue to go after the crooks, I don't care whatsoever," he told more than 1,000 people who attended the event.
