PETALING JAYA: Shamsul Iskandar Akin, the senior political secretary to the prime minister, has demanded an apology and a retraction of remarks by Bersatu member Badrul Hisham Shaharin, known as Chegubard, about alleged abuse of funds at an NGO.
In a letter of demand to Badrul, Shamsul said he would file a suit for RM5 million in defamation damages should an apology and retraction not be made.
Shamsul’s lawyers said Badrul had received the letter of demand by hand at the Setapak police station this afternoon, following a police report Shamrul lodged on Jan 6.
Badrul had alleged in a Facebook video on Jan 5 that Shamsul was connected with abuse of funds at an NGO.
Shamsul said the allegation was baseless, not backed by evidence, and was intended to tarnish the good name of the Prime Minister’s Office.
In the video, Badrul said he was gathering evidence of corruption, allegedly by a senior political secretary to the prime minister. He alleged the aide’s staff and proxies were using their political allies to abuse NGO funds. - FMT
