Wahab demands RM5m from Chegubard in lewd video suit

Community Communications Department (J-Kom) officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani is demanding RM5 million in aggravated and exemplary damages from Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin.

This is among the list of reliefs contained in the plaintiff’s defamation suit filed against the defendant, also known as Chegubard, over the spread of a video allegedly containing lewd conversations.

The video allegedly showed individuals who looked like former J-Kom director-general Mohammad Agus Yusoff and Wahab.

When contacted by Malaysiakini recently, Wahab’s (above, left) counsel Faizal Rahman confirmed that the writ of summons was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Dec 22 last year and that copies of the cause papers have been served on Chegubard.

According to a copy of the statement of claim, Wahab seeks not only the RM5 million aggravated and exemplary damages, but also an apology to be published on the defendant’s social media accounts as well as several newspapers.

The plaintiff seeks court orders to compel the defendant to take down the alleged defamatory statements from all social media platforms and to prevent the latter from further repeating the statements.

Defamatory posts

The crux of Wahab’s suit is over Chegubard’s allegedly defamatory posts on the latter’s Facebook page between Nov 16 and 17 last year.

Malaysiakini has reached out to Chegubard over the matter.

On Dec 15 last year, Wahab’s legal team was quoted saying that he is preparing to file the civil action against Chegubard.

Former J-Kom director-general Mohammad Agus Yusoff

Previously, Harian Metro reported that Wahab issued letters of demand over the dissemination of the video.

A video of a conversation with a man who looked like Agus went viral on Nov 17.

Because of that, Agus resigned as J-Kom director-general and claimed the video of the conversation involving him was fake and edited by irresponsible parties.

At a press conference on the issue, Wahab claimed he was made a scapegoat to bring down Agus by an individual named “Mr H”.
