Customer rants of exorbitant restaurant bill, gets huge reaction on cyberspace

DISSATISFIED restaurant customers come in all shapes and sizes. But when the situation involves an exorbitant bill and lacklustre taste, you can expect said customer to go bananas.

That is exactly what happened when a netizen by the user name of minazaini posted her terrible dining experience on X, garnering a huge response from the cyberspace.

According to minazaini, the bill was comparable to paying for the instalment for a house, at RM342.25.

Minazaini went on to describe the menu on the list, beginning with the grilled stingray which came at a price of RM93.50.

She said the medium sized stingray was overcooked, charred and hard like the protective shell of a tank. Moreover, the sambal was bland like wiping syrup water on the fish.

Then there were two plates of grilled cockles at RM63.75 which were equally bland. She went on to rant that the rice had finished but the side dishes were not in sight.

Minazaini further observed that there were many workers yet they remained standing like barbie dolls.

When she made a complaint to the cashier, all she received was an ignorant reply stating that such a situation was normal, which got her blood boiling.

Since she posted a photo with the food finished, several netizens wondered why she wiped the plates clean when it was as terrible as she described.

Minazaini replied that if your mother-in-law told you to finish the meal and you were dead hungry, would you eat?

On another note, netizen Datuk Abidin Md Napis recommended that if one were to travel to Melaka, they should try out Gerai no.6 at Pusat Ikan Bakar Umbai in Melaka which offers cheap, clean and delicious grilled fish.

Pikapi added that this particular restaurant has gone viral in the past for its price. She counselled patience as outsiders are often trapped by it.

Another netizen confirmed that it is very pricey, but maybe because the customer chooses and they cook. However, the netizen went on to say that the fried squid in flour was very delicious especially if eaten with nasi lemak.

The netizen said the price was according to the mood of the cashier since the menu items were not seen in the receipt.

Well, here is a lesson for customer to ask questions first before making any orders, especially if a menu that displays the price is missing from sight.

Either that or they will pay for a RM342.25 lesson as what minazaini had done. – Focus Malaysia
