French cyclist Ronan Auge was placed in a medically-induced coma to stabilise his condition after a crash at the beginning of the Pandan Indah-Rembau stage yesterday.

Joram Grootveld, sports director of his team Unibet Rose Rockets, said 22-year-old Auge crashed at the beginning of the Pandan Indah-Rembau stage yesterday. “It was such a big crash that we needed to get him to hospital very quickly. They placed him in a medically induced coma to ensure his condition stays stable,” he said.
“At the moment, everything looks quite okay. So, right now we have to take it step by step and see how his recovery progresses,” Grootveld told reporters after the conclusion of the Melaka-Batu Pahat stage today. “But he’s in good hands right now and we hope that he has a good recovery,” he said.
A medical update by the team earlier today confirmed that Auge sustained serious injuries but his condition remains stable and not life-threatening.
The Langkawi tour concludes tomorrow with the final stage of 188km from Muar to Putrajaya. - FMT
