"Balik India': Group gives Guan Eng's pol-sec 1 week to apologize

The Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (KIMMA) wants Komtar state assemblyman Ng Wei Aik to apologize for allegedly uttering the words "tutup kedai, balik India" (close shop, go back to India) at Restoran Nasi Kandar Mohamad Aliyar, Syed Kasali Mohamed Aliyar, last Sunday.

Penang KIMMA liaison chief Faruk Raja Mohamed said Ng who is also the political secretary to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng would be given a week to apologize.

"If he does not apologize by a week, we will not hesitate to take legal action. We also have strong evidence to show that he had actually uttered the words," he told reporters after handing a memorandum to Guan Eng.

The memorandum was received by Guan Eng's private secretary Farida Hani Yaakob.

Meanwhile, about 100 KIMMA members staged a peaceful rally from Masjid Simpang Enam to Komtar before handing over the memorandum.

It was reported that Ng had uttered the words when the Penang Town Council (MPPP) had come to the restaurant and seized tables, chairs television and other items at the premises for violating rules set by the council.
