Sabah DAP says sorry over traffic summons

Sabah DAP's tussle with Kota Kinabalu police left many patrons of a restaurant in Inanam poorer.

KOTA KINABALU: Defiant Sabah DAP which went ahead with a dinner despite not securing a permit has apologised to the patrons of a restaurant where the function was held for the summons slapped on their cars by police.

State party secretary Edwin Bosi said the party had hosted a Pakatan Rakyat solidarity dinner function for its members and the public at the New Gaya restaurant in Inanam on Sunday when police officers zeroed in on the restaurant vicinity and started issuing summons on the cars parked along Jalan Bantayan-Minintod near here.

Said Bosi: “We regret that a function held in an enclosed or fenced premises is required to have a police permit. When we applied we were refused a permit.

“It has always been our duty to apply for the permit and to work closely with the police.

“Unfortunately, the police have rejected our application for a permit at the last minute and refused to entertain our appeal.

“Sabah DAP would like to apologise to the patrons of the restaurant who have parked their cars along the road and given summons.”

Several national-level leaders from the DAP headquarters were present at the dinner to motivate and gear up the state team for the 13th general election.

“We are all ready for the coming polls expected to be called anytime this year.”

National DAP election director, Tan Kok Wai, told party leaders that a winning plan begins with an election preparation.

“The plan must move forward with effective information dissemination. DAP is a united party, Pakatan Rakyat is a united coalition and we must work together with the people. The essence of success is one heart, one team and one goal.” - FMT
