Opposition able to administer states because on strong foundation built by BN government, says Shafie

BANGI, Aug 30 — Administration of states under Pakatan Rakyat is merely based on the strong foundation built by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government for 50 years, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said today.
He said the opposition's action in having its own theme for Merdeka Day clearly showed that it was more concerned with its own political agenda than the interests of the general public.
Although the opposition had its own political stance and ideology, he said, it should not deny the development and progress carried out by the BN government since the country achieved its independence in 1957.
"What the opposition is doing is to make promises and refute all the good done by the BN government.
"Lim Guan Eng may not be able to administer Penang as a state if its foundation is not strong," he told reporters at an event to appreciate Merdeka Day which was attended by the ministry's staff here.
Shafie said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and with the people's support would continue with the tradition of implementing all the country's development agenda.
He said Najib, who placed the people's interests as his priority, would continue to carry out more programmes and transformations towards making Malaysia a developed country by 2020.
"We realise that a lot have been done since the past 55 years, Villages have turned into towns. The village folks living comfortably and much more.
"What the opposition can do is to make promises. Despite being in power in some states, they still cannot fulfill the promises made in the 2008 general election," he added. — Bernama
