Embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is willing to face the PKR disciplinary board on August 15 rather than today or tomorrow over his refusal to step down from the job, citing time constraints.
"I can't attend the hearing today, so I have sent a letter asking for August 15. I am waiting for their reply," he told reporters today.
The PKR disciplinary board wants Khalid (pic) to explain his disobedienace of party orders and on five other issues in his six-year administration of the country's richest state.
The party has proposed party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to take over his job but has yet to get consensus from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) allies PAS and DAP.
The PAS leadership has publicly backed Khalid to remain as MB while DAP has been silent on the issue despite a PR leadership council meeting on July 23, which agreed the post belongs to a PKR assemblyman.
PKR has 14 lawmakers while PAS and DAP each has 15 in the 56-seat state assembly. The other 12 are from Umno.- TMI
