Former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin should check his facts before accusing Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of breaking his promise on 1MDB, said a minister.
Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz said those responsible for 1MDB's failures were the board of directors and they had already resigned.
As for any other crimes related to 1MDB, Nazri said this must be investigated by the authorities first.
"What's the crime? Say, it's swindling money or something. Who did it?
"You have to identify who did it, or else who would you take action on," Nazri said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
Yesterday, Muhyiddin reminded Najib of his promise last year that action would be taken against those found to have committed any wrongdoing in regard to 1MDB.
He also claimed the prime minister had reneged on his pledge to make public the auditor-general's report on 1MDB, which is now classified under the Official Secrets Act.
Meanwhile on a separate matter, Nazri said the throwing of hell notes at yesterday's Umno Youth protest against DAP was not right.
"Two wrongs don't make a right," he said.
However, he said the ultimate blame still lies on Taiping MP, Nga Kor Ming, whose alleged insensitive remarks about Islam sparked the protest.
The protest at the DAP headquarters was over allegations that Nga had likened 'duit raya' during Aidilfitri to 'dedak' (animal feed).
"As an MP he should be more responsible with what he says," Nazri said.
Nga has denied uploading a caricature in which the inflammatory remarks were made. - Mkini
