Cops receive fresh threats after IS crackdown, says IGP

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said police continued to receive new security threats by several parties following police cracking down on IS militants in the country.
He said the latest threat was received by him five days ago after several warnings were also received by him as well as some senior police officers recently.
"I am still receiving their threats but it is normal as the head looking after the country's security.
"I had expected the matter and it was nothing new. There is no need to worry," he told reporters after attending a Bukit Aman Special Branch Aidilfitri open house celebration at the senior officers mess in Kuala Lumpur today.

Meanwhile on another issue, Khalid said the discovery of an object believed to be a homemade bomb in a bush near a railway track in Jalan Kolam Air 9, Sentul in Kuala Lumpur on July 13, was not related to IS.
"At the moment, the object found is not linked to any terrorist groups and it is only an internal problem.
"However, police had found several leads to assist investigations," he said.
Khalid said police would be taking measures to beef up security at popular places which could be targets of terrorist groups.
