Don't resort to old style of political instigation, DAP warned

DAP needs to be told off from its confrontational brand of politics, according to BN strategic communications director Abdul Rahman Dahlan, following controversial Facebook postings purportedly made by the opposition party’s Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming.
He said that DAP’s young leaders have resorted to DAP’s old style of instigation and provocation, whether it comes to satirical videos made in bad taste or offensive Hari Raya greetings.
Hence, people should demand that DAP be more responsible and tactful in its politicking, he said.
“Can DAP leaders express their views, no matter how strong, without resorting to such intimidation? Of course yes. Question is, why don't they?
“DAP's political DNA has always been confrontational. Shoot first then ask later. Never mind the consequences. To hell with the repercussions.
“It's time for all Malaysians to demand DAP to be more responsible and tactful in their politicking. Let us tell DAP that this is 2016, not 1966!” Abdul Rahman said in a statement posted on Twitter today.
The year 1966 was the year when DAP was formally registered as a political party.
“Hard elbowing in politics is normal and expected. But (it) must not be at the expense of racial and religious harmony we have cherished thus far,” he added.Abdul Rahman’s statement comes a day after Umno Youth executive council member Ibdillah Ishak and Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafie led some 200 protesters to DAP’s national headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, where a fracas broke out with the police.

The protest was held against Nga, who purportedly made Facebook posts insulting the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. Nga had denied this, and the Facebook page has since been deactivated.
The MP is currently being investigated under the Sedition Act 1948 over the matter.
Abdul Rahman warned that DAP’s emerging leaders must put national unity above partisan politics, saying that they seem unable to distinguish between scoring political brownie points and tearing apart Malaysian society.
“Otherwise for every action, there will surely be counter reaction!” he said.- Mkini
