'FROGMAN' IBRAHIM ALI TO JOIN DR M'S NEW PARTY FOR LAST GO AT GE-14?

Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali said he will join a new political party before the 14th general election (GE14).
However, he refused to state which party he would join as he is still studying the political situation in the party.
“For now, the situation is still unclear, meaning that by analogy, the situation seems to be overcast, with lightning and dark clouds.
“I am still observing, and when things become clear, then I would decide the obvious.
“What is for sure is that I will join a political party before the 14th general election,” he told Malaysiakini and Free Malaysia Today at Perkasa’s headquarters yesterday.
Ibrahim had previously joined Umno in 1987 and won when he contested in the Pasir Mas constituency.
He was once an Umno Youth exco member and was later appointed as the deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department under the fourth Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s reign.
He also joined the Semangat 46 movement with Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah between 1990 and 1996.
When Tengku Razaleigh dissolved Semangat 46 and rejoined Umno, Ibrahim followed in his footsteps but was sacked and permanently banned from Umno.
In 2008, Ibrahim contested in the 12th general election in Pasir Mas on a PAS ticket.
During the interview, Ibrahim admitted that several political party leaders had approached him with offers of positions.
However, he said he is still considering the offers and refused to name the parties.
Ibrahim added that he has yet to decide whether he would leave Perkasa, as it would depend on the prevailing conditions.
When asked about Perkasa’s future after he rejoins politics, he said, “I think Perkasa will not fall when I am no longer president, because Perkasa is stable and has potential successors at every level of the leadership.
“I see that young leaders in Perkasa have become more independent because now Perkasa’s voice is not just my voice.
“Perkasa will live on, and I have confidence in that,” he said. - M'kini
