Nga Kor Ming insists he neither drew nor uploaded dedak cartoon

DAP's Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming today reiterated that he neither drew nor uploaded the dedak cartoon on a Facebook fanpage account in a controversial Hari Raya Aidilfitri posting.
He gave his statement at the Bukit Aman police headquarters this evening where he was questioned for two hours.
Nga is being probed under the Sedition Act and also Section 298 of the Penal Code, which states "uttering words... with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person".
He arrived at Bukit Aman at 2.15pm, with supporters including Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng and former Selangor exco Ronnie Liu waiting for him.
Upon arrival, he read out a statement stressing that he did not "draw or upload" the controversial cartoon and urged all to respect the police in their investigation.
Nga was accompanied by Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham and Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo who acted as his lawyers.
After the questioning, he walked out of the police headquarters but declined to reveal further apart from saying that he is not the owner of the Facebook fanpage.
"They asked whatever (is) necessary and I've answered whatever is necessary. Since they are still investigating, I shall not speak more.
"I don't know (the owner behind the Facebook fanpage account), let the police investigate. But definitely it's not mine," he said.
Nga also stressed that the police acted professionally when they questioned him.
The controversial cartoon shows two boys in baju melayu and songkok telling a man, also in the traditional attire, that this year they are not expecting duit raya but donations and dedak.
Dedak, the Malay word for animal feed, is commonly used in political circles to refer to political handouts used to win supporters and allies.
The fanpage which allegedly published the picture has since been deactivated.Apart from several police reports lodged against Nga, Umno Youth and Malay rights pressure group Gerakan Merah also protested in front of the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

As he was leaving Bukit Aman, Nga was also asked whether he supports the postponement of DAP's triennial party polls.
"We will discuss and elaborate on the matter, and I believe a statement will be issued tomorrow," he said.
The DAP central executive committee (CEC) will meet tonight to discuss whether to conduct party polls this year. - Mkini
