No snap polls yet, Guan Eng needs more time for consultation

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said more time is required for consultation on holding a snap polls.
The DAP secretary-general announced this at a press conference in Komtar following a meeting with PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.
"There will be no unilateral decision on this," he said.
Quizzed on how long the consultation period would last, he replied: “We will inform you once it is finalised... but it won’t be forever.
“Any decision will be made by consensus, we will achieve a decision together,” Lim told reporters.
“Although the DAP central executive committee had unanimously agreed to a snap polls but the party still wanted to consult our allies on this.
“This is the basis of trust between the coalition partners,” he added.
Lim said the discussions about polls were supposed to be carried out “in secret” between the coalition partners but the details were leaked to the press.
He accused some of the media of sensationalising the matter
Lim said he was in KL to discuss the issue with PKR and Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamed Sabu on Tuesday, saying he appreciated their views.
Meanwhile, Azmin expressed appreciation for Lim’s pledge that a unilateral decision would not be made on the matter.
Yesterday, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said her party is not convinced on the need for a snap election, which is touted as gauging public support for Lim following his twin corruption charges.

Asked if PKR is convinced today after hearing Lim’s explanation on the matter, Azmin replied, “to be fair with PKR, we never said 'no'".
“What we said we were yet to be convinced on the objective and today we are here to talk directly with the CM and he has given his full explanation and allow us to go back to speak to our party because that is the spirit of Pakatan,” Azmin said.
“I think we will discuss first with our party leaders, and we will share with you (whether we are convinced or not). The discussion was very fruitful and we are very happy about it,” he added.
Pressed on whether there will be polls after all, the leaders merely laughed.- Mkini
