GEORGE TOWN: The man who is on the run after murdering four people, including his mother and brother, in Batu Maung yesterday is “armed and highly dangerous”, says Penang police chief Comm Abdul Ghafar Rajab.
He said the 32-year-old suspect left the state, after abandoning his mother’s boyfriend’s pick-up truck in Bukit Mertajam on the mainland.
“A man who mercilessly killed his own mother, her partner, his own brother and his nephew is definitely someone we would call dangerous.
“Intelligence reports have revealed the man had left the state borders, we can’t say where he has gone, but he has definitely left Penang.
“I would like to plead with the public to immediately report his whereabouts to the police and ask the media to publish his photograph,” Ghafar said in a press conference at the state police headquarters here today.
When asked if he could have escaped to neighbouring countries, Ghafar said: “He is definitely in the country, without money, where is he going to go?”
Yesterday, the 32-year-old man mercilessly shot four people at a poultry processing factory near the airport, including his 55-year-old mother, 28-year-old brother, and his two-year-old nephew. His mother’s boyfriend and live-in partner, a 50-year-old man was also killed.
Ghafar also revealed how the man mercilessly killed the four at close range — with four shots each to his brother, his mother and her boyfriend; and two shots on the head and neck of the two-year-old toddler.
“We feel that he might have been motivated by long-standing family problems and drug abuse,” he added.
