Sungai Johor polllution cause for water crisis, 120,000 users affected

The Johor government will take firm action against culprits who polluted Sungai Johor with ammonia, detected near Kota Tinggi, yesterday.
Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the state government will not compromise with them because their actions caused a drop in the water quality, thus affecting some 120,000 users.
“All efforts are being made to tackle the problem. I hope everyone can be patient and appreciate efforts being made by SAJ (Syarikat Air Johor Holdings Sdn Bhd), he told reporters after handing over the Johor flag to the state’s contingent to the Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Iskandar Puteri today.

Mohamed Khaled said the SAJ and Badan Kawal Selia Air Johor (BAKAJ) are continuing investigation to trace the source of the pollution.
The pollution in Sungai Johor caused three water treatment plants namely the Sungai Johor, Semangar and Tai Hong, to be closed temporarily.
All three plants resumed operation since midnight starting with Sungai Johor at midnight followed by Semangar at 5am and Tai Hong at 8am.
