KUALA LUMPUR: Titiwangsa member of parliament Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani called on voters in Selangor to put their trust in Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) as they had a good track record governing the state.
Johari, who is also Umno's vice-president, said the essence of a good federal and state government relies on political stability and competent leaders as it would drive the economy and benefit the public.
"BN had governed Selangor for 60 years before we lost and the state was governed by PH. But we can see that PH is also good at developing the state.
"It's a good thing that we are now partners. Since PH also has experience (as the state government) and we have a 60-year track record, if we can prove it to the rakyat, everyone will get the benefit," he said during a walkabout session at the AU2 Setiawangsa morning market, here today.
He was accompanying PH Hulu Kelang candidate Juwairiya Zulkifli.
He added that the country would be better able to develop when there was political stability and competent leaders at all levels, from the state legislative assemblies to the higher level.
"When there is political stability and competent leaders, all other benefits will come automatically. There will be issues if both are not present.
"In other countries, the day after the elections, political talks will die down but not in Malaysia. Even the day after the election, we will talk about politics.
"If we talk about politics every day, there will be issues and the ones affected will be the rakyat," he said. - NST
