STATE POLLS | Cash aid for single mothers, the elderly, newlyweds, and students are among Pakatan Harapan and BN’s offers in its state election manifesto for Negeri Sembilan.
The manifesto, launched today, touts a yearly “happiness contribution” of RM200 for single mothers earning less than RM2,000 per month, as well as a similar RM200 annual contribution to senior citizens aged 70 and above.
For newlyweds marrying for the first time, the Harapan-BN coalition is offering RM500 cash aid.
The coalition is also offering to deposit RM100 into the Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) accounts for any child born in the state from 2023 to 2027.
Boarding school students, meanwhile, would get RM300 in aid.
There’s also aid for students entering tertiary education, ranging from RM500 for certificates, to RM1,000 for degrees.
First-class degree graduates would also be eligible for an RM5,000 award upon graduation under the manifesto.
Overall the manifesto highlights 70 initiatives, including for economic development, agriculture, tourism, culture, and housing.
The manifesto was launched a day after Perikatan Nasional revealed its own for Negeri Sembilan.
The PN manifesto pledges, among others, subsidies for gig workers to get motorcycle licences, subsidies for school bus fees, up to RM300 in aid for maternity labour costs, and a rent-to-own housing scheme.
