Harapan efficient in administering Negeri Sembilan - Analysts

The efficiency of the Pakatan Harapan government in administering Negeri Sembilan was proven when 97 percent of the pledges made in its 14th general election manifesto were implemented as promised.

A political analyst with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Mohd Azmir Mohd Nizah said this showed the state government's seriousness in prioritising the people's trust.

Even though caretaker menteri besar Aminuddin Harun faced challenges including political uncertainty at the federal level and the Covid-19 pandemic, he said the state’s administration continued to run smoothly without any controversy.

“The Key Performance Indicators of the 2018 manifesto, 95 to 97 percent are achieved. If the voters feel that is the best for them, there is no reason for the people to choose other (party) in this state election," he told Bernama.

Mohd Azmir said the PKR vice-president, also an incumbent Sikamat assemblyperson, is a diplomatic leader in his administration with DAP and Amanah.

Among the pledges fulfilled was the construction of 27,688 units of affordable housing under the Rumah Harapan Rakyat Negeri Sembilan programme.

In addition, state revenue increased within five years namely RM566 million in 2021 and RM522 million in 2022, investment reached RM9 billion last year and many more.

Meanwhile, Universiti Teknologi MARA Institution of Malay Rulers Chair Fellow Mujibu Abd Muis believes Aminuddin has proven his credibility in leading the ‘adat Perpatih’ state with high investment achievements and economic initiatives benefiting the people.

He said the people in the state want to see the unity government's plan for Negeri Sembilan to move towards a developed state.

"I want to see what is next for Negeri Sembilan. It is time for the government to focus on the status of a developed state, if you look at this economic spillover due to rapid development, the potential to become a developed state is huge," he added.
