I'm not denying ex-rep's contribution, says Aminuddin

STATE POLLS | Caretaker Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun said he never denied the contributions of Ampangan independent candidate Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek in bringing developments and investments to the state.

However, Aminuddin (above) said Rafie had a duty to do so as a former state assemblyperson and an exco under the former Pakatan Harapan-led state under his administration.

At a ceramah in Ampangan last night, Aminuddin said even Rafie's predecessor - BN’s Abu Ubaidah Redza - has contributed to voters in the area.

“We never denied the contributions of past elected representatives. (Former assemblyperson) Tok Abu (Ubaidah Redza) did his part, bringing in many developments.

“Same goes with the leader after that, Rafie, he brought a lot of contributions, and it is undeniable that he has a duty to develop the area,” said Aminuddin.

“But when he (Rafie) is no longer with us (Harapan), how can he develop the area after this and ensure continuation in Ampangan.

“That cannot be done alone (as an independent),” said Aminuddin.

Aminuddin was responding to Rafie’s recent remarks claiming credit for investments brought into Negeri Sembilan as then exco for investment, industry, entrepreneurship, education, and human resource development.

Rafie (above, centre) also said he was ready to debate with Aminuddin if the latter denied his remarks.

“I’m confident they will not dare to face me, because if they do then I have more stories to reveal.

“Because I’m a PKR founder, I know the things happening in the party and in the state government, so that’s why if he (Aminuddin) dares to fight… go ahead,” Rafie told Malaysiakini.

Commenting further, Aminuddin insisted that developments in an area cannot be carried out independently and so it is important for voters to elect a representative who is a part of the state government.

“Developments can happen with an aligned state and federal government.

“We can’t do it on our own. Even I can’t do it alone, and that’s a fact,” he said.

Aminuddin is defending his Sikamat seat and has so far been endorsed to return as Negeri Sembilan menteri besar if the Harapan-BN pact successfully forms the state government after Aug 12. - Mkini
