MACC is considering seeking the assistance of Interpol to track down Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law, according to chief commissioner Azam Baki.
"We suspect he is in a particular country but we cannot yet disclose which country it is," he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur.
On Aug 7, MACC announced it was on the hunt for Muhammad Adlan Berhan, 48, and Mansoor Saat, 69. Adlan is married to Nabilah, Muhyiddin's second child.
According to MACC, Adlan and the other individual left the country on May 17 and 21 respectively. There was no record of them returning home.
MACC said that the two were required to assist in investigations into a project regarding the registration and storage of biometric information for foreign workers.
Meanwhile, Azam said the two men fled Malaysia after realising they were on the wanted list.
However, it is unclear if the pair is being sought to face charges or facilitate investigations in order for charges to be brought against others.
Azam said the two also ignored repeated notices to have their statements recorded, forcing MACC to issue a notice through the press.
"We are seeking the assistance of the police and the immigration department to freeze the passports (of the two individuals)," he added.
When met by reporters yesterday, Muhyiddin declined to comment on the matter.
Muhyiddin, who is also facing corruption charges, has accused the Pakatan Harapan-BN government of “selective political prosecution”. - Mkini
