Negeri Sembilan MB swearing in tomorrow - Harapan or Umno?

Negeri Sembilan’s new menteri besar will be sworn in tomorrow but it is unclear if the candidate will be from Pakatan Harapan or Umno.

According to Bernama, Pakatan Harapan chairperson and caretaker Menteri Besar Amuinuddin Harun refused to divulge who would helm the state government for the next five years.

“Tomorrow, we will know who the menteri besar is,” he said.

However, Aminuddin (above, right) said Negeri Sembilan Harapan has proposed for him to be the menteri besar and this was a unanimous decision.

“I think that will not change,” said the PKR leader, adding that the final decision would be determined by the coalition’s central leadership.

Yesterday, Khairy Jamaluddin said Negeri Sembilan Umno chief Jalaludin Alias should be named as the menteri besar if the party wins the most seats in the election.

“Who gets the most seats becomes menteri besar,” added the former Umno Youth chief, who is a voter in the state and ex-MP of Rembau.

The Harapan-BN alliance retained Negeri Sembilan with a two-thirds majority. Umno won 14 seats, followed by DAP 11, PKR (5) and Amanah (1). Perikatan Nasional bagged five seats.

Weighing in on the matter, Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu also suggested that Jalaludin be made the menteri besar based on the numerical advantage in terms of seats won.

‘Don’t hurt Umno further’

On a sarcastic note, Faizal said Umno members, who are disappointed with the performance in other states, should not be made to feel worse.

“Umno was trounced in the other five states. Umno members are surely disappointed.

“Don’t let Umno members and supporters be disappointed even further… once again, vote for Umno, get DAP and PKR (as menteri besar),” media reports quoted him as saying. - Mkini
