Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah has issued a warning to those who flout the law, especially those related to the environment in the state.
Stressing that none is above the law, he said this included members of the Pahang royalty and politicians as well.
“In our efforts to ensure the environment, flora and fauna in Pahang are always preserved, I request the related enforcement agencies to be stern.
“Ladies and gentlemen, do not be concerned. Do your duty diligently, I am with you.
“Do not accept bribes and safeguard integrity. If there are those who jual nama (name drop about having royal links), inform me,” he added.
Tengku Hassanal (above) was speaking at an awards ceremony in conjunction with the Sultan of Pahang’s birthday at the Istana Abu Bakar in Pekan.
Important stakeholder
His Highness also reminded members of the Pahang royal household that all projects which are to be carried out in cooperation with royal families from other states in Pahang require his blessings.
He said federal government development projects to be implemented in Pahang would need the approval of the state government.
“This is the same for all politicians. Development projects must be presented for my blessings after discussing with the menteri besar of Pahang,” he added.
Furthermore, Tengku Hassanal said all Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) reports by the Department of Environment related to projects in Pahang must be presented to him.
The reports, he added, would be presented to his father and state ruler Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah before a decision is made.
“As the heir to the Pahang throne, I do not wish to meddle in the administration of the state.
“But I want to be an important stakeholder, to be the check and balance for the development being implemented (in the state),” he added. - Mkini
