Armizan hopes for new domestic trade minister as head gets ‘shinier’

Since taking over the post of domestic trade and cost of living minister, Armizan Ali has taken action to address the temporary disruption to the supply of local rice and the increase in the price of imported rice.

PETALING JAYA: Armizan Ali has expressed hope that the post of domestic trade and cost of living minister will be filled soon.

“Since taking over, my already bald head is getting shinier. My hair is afraid to grow. We hope the vacancy for the domestic trade and cost of living minister can be filled soon,” Armizan said in a speech at an event in Kundasang, Sabah, last night.

The post of domestic trade and cost of living minister fell vacant following the death of former Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub on July 23.

Subsequently, on July 30, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim named Armizan as the interim minister for the portfolio.

Since taking over the role, the Papar MP has taken action to address the temporary disruption to the supply of local rice and the increase in the price of imported rice.

Sales of imported rice at Rahmah prices began last month at Rahmah sales events across the country after a meeting with the National Action Council on Cost of Living.

Armizan also said the decision to sell imported rice at Rahmah sales events was taken to prevent the programme, held in all state constituencies across the country, from disrupting the supply of local rice in the market. - FMT
