PELANGAI BY-ELECTION | DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke admonished Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over the latter's “ah pek in shorts will be teaching Islam” remark.
He said the PAS leader should look at Penang, which had been under DAP administration for 15 years, before making such an accusation.
"DAP has been in power in Penang for three terms, for 15 years. Was there any ‘ah pek Cina reciting Friday sermon’ in Penang?
"Penang should be the best example of this. Is there no mosque in Penang (since DAP took over)? But this is the sentiment that they want to play up," Loke (above, right) told reporters after a ceramah in Telemong, Bentong last night.
He was responding to Sanusi's ceramah in Pelangai last week, where the PAS leader claimed that Malaysia would one day see "ah pek in shorts teaching Islam in mosque" if Pakatan Harapan and BN continue to run the government.
Loke, who is also transport minister, regarded Sanusi's remark as telling how "shallow" the latter is.

"What puzzles me is, when PAS and DAP were working together, they fought against the same attacks, which were then said by Umno.
"But today, they are using the same slander and logic. They know what they say is not true.
"This shows that they are out of issues to raise," he said.
Confident of winning
Meanwhile, Loke said he was confident that votes from DAP supporters in several villages in Pelangai would be “transferred” to BN candidate Amizar Abu Adam on the polling day.
"While we didn't get the majority votes in Pelangai during the recent general election, we did get quite a good support from areas like Telemong, Manchis and two or three other villages.
"We still got around 30 percent of the votes from Pelangai. And with this kind of support which we will ‘transfer’ to BN, I’m confident the BN candidate can win comfortably," he said. - Mkini
