1,741 evacuated as floods worsen in Kelantan

KOTA BHARU: The flood in Kelantan has worsened with a surge in the number of evacuees tonight, with 1,741 people relocated to relief centres compared to 655 this morning.

According to the welfare department portal, the victims are currently taking refuge in 12 relief centres in Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas, Bachok, Tanah Merah, and Machang.

In Pasir Mas, six centres have been opened at schools in Gual To’Deh (425 victims), Baroh Pial (573), Lati (88), Gual Periok (262), and Lati (53), and at Padang Licin mosque (46).

There are 221 evacuees in Bachok and 19 people from five families in Kota Bharu.

Two relief centres were also opened in Tanah Merah, the latest district to be affected by floods, with 42 evacuees relocated, while 12 people from three families are taking refuge in Machang. - FMT
