PETALING JAYA: Former Umno Youth leader Wan Azri Wan Deris, whose alter ego is believed to be controversial blogger Papagomo, has denied being arrested by the police midway through a TikTok live stream last night.
Wan Azri had abruptly ended the live stream saying someone was at his house, and that “they act very quickly, but it’s okay, this is part of our struggle”.
Bersatu’s Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, subsequently asked if the police had paid the former Umno Youth executive council member a visit.
When contacted, Wan Azri denied being arrested or that the cops had come to his house.
Instead, he confirmed being summoned by the cops to give his statement after a report was filed against him. The details of the latest police report are unclear.
Wan Azri, who was given a six-year suspension from Umno in 2021, added that he would cooperate with the police, as he always had.
He also quipped that his upcoming appointment would be his eighth time giving his statement to the cops this year.
Several police reports have been lodged against Wan Azri over the course of the year.
In July, an aide to communications and digital minister Fahmi Fadzil filed a report against Wan Azri for allegedly saying that the controversial incident involving the band The 1975 during the Good Vibes Festival was staged by the authorities.
The following month, an Umno member lodged a report against Wan Azri over a video which allegedly insulted Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Fahmi had also served a notice of demand on Wan Azri over allegations that the minister, who is also the PKR information chief, gave a political talk at a mosque in Rawang, Selangor in July. - FMT
