Pakatan Harapan should set up a media agency like Media Prima to help address "negative propaganda" against the coalition, said Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad.
In his speech at the Amanah National Convention today, Khalid said Harapan needs to have a strong media presence that can counter those run by rival parties.
"In Harapan Council meetings... We must plan towards setting up a media company that can rival Media Prima.
"There must be an intentional policy to establish a media company like Media Prima," Khalid said in his winding-up speech at the convention, as quoted by Free Malaysia Today.
He pointed out that having such a platform can help Harapan to rival their opponents and those considered as 'ghuluw' (people who exceed reasonable bounds) and the 'khawarij', referring to an early Islamic sect that considered other Muslims who do not share their ideology as infidels.
Media Prima is a local media giant that owns and operates several news agencies across multiple platforms, including television stations, newspapers, radio stations, online media, and advertising agencies, among others.
Among the prominent companies owned by Media Prima include the New Straits Times Press, which operates newspapers the New Straits Times, Harian Metro, and Berita Harian. - Mkini
