Amanah secretary-general Mohd Hatta Md Ramli dismissed speculations of re-elections for the party’s youth wing, following reports of defective ballots and irregularities.
According to him, this is because the objection period is still open.
“Until now, there have been no changes to the Amanah national youth committee.
“The objection window is still open, so any decision will be taken based on further developments,” Hatta (above) told reporters when met at the sidelines of the Amanah National Convention 2023 at the Wyndham Acmar Hotel in Klang, Selangor, today.
He was responding to a Malaysiakini report yesterday that internal party elections at last week’s Amanah Youth Convention had been marred with irregularities.
According to a source in the party’s youth wing, these include defective ballots, representatives who registered themselves after the deadline, and inaccuracies in candidates’ names on e-voting ballots.
Election committee chairperson Zulqarnain Lukman said they have not made any decisions regarding the complaints as the objection period is still ongoing until Dec 25.
However, Hatta said he does not expect major changes to happen in the youth wing polls.
