5 held after brawl at football match

PETALING JAYA: The police arrested five individuals suspected of having been involved in a brawl between two football teams in Rawang yesterday.

Sungai Buloh police chief Shafa’aton Abu Bakar said the incident occurred between players from Sungai Buaya FC and Garage FC at Persiaran Gamuda Garden 1, Bandar Gamuda, at 8pm.

Following police reports by the two teams, five people aged between 14 and 39 were arrested, she said in a statement today. They are being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.

It is learned that one of the complainants, a 14-year-old boy, sustained bodily injuries after trying to stop the fight but was assaulted by other players.

A clip of the brawl, circulated on social media, showed people hitting each other with crash helmets and a chair. - FMT
