Amanah leadership: Mahfuz, Hatta named veeps, Faiz Fadzil now sec-gen

The Amanah central leadership has met and appointed its full leadership following last month's party congress.

Among the key appointments are party stalwarts Mahfuz Omar and Mohd Hatta Ramli as vice-presidents, while former Permatang Pasih assemblyperson Faiz Fadzil is the party's secretary-general.

Following the congress on Dec 24, 2023, Agriculture Minister Mohamad Sabu was named president, Mujahid Yusof Rawa was named deputy president and three vice-presidents appointed were Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad, Seri Serdang state assemblyperson Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and deputy defence minister Adly Zahari.

"Realising the increasingly challenging political demands, Amanah as a component party of the Madani government has increased its commitment to move more precisely for the 2023-2026 session.

"This determination is to ensure that the government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim remains intact and stable to guarantee the sustainable development of the country and the prosperity of the people," said Faiz in a statement today.

Other appointments within the committee include that of deputy secretary-general (Norhayati Bidin), assistant secretaries-general (Mohd Faizul Salleh and Ridzwan Abu Bakar, organisation secretary (Abang Mohd Kerdee Abang Masagus) and treasurer (Izham Hashim).

Meanwhile, former Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad was reappointed as the party's communications director and Hulu Langat MP Mohd Sany Hamzan was named election director.

Other appointments included strategy director (Ahmad Sabki Yusof), human resources development director (Suhaizan Kaiat) and Syariah director (Dr Hasan Bahrom).

Faiz also stated that the appointments of Amanah state chiefs would be made after sufficient written notice has been given to each Amanah division throughout the country to nominate a suitable and worthy candidate for consideration by the president and central committee. - Mkini
