Ex-boyfriend among trio remanded for abduction of teenager outside school

 

Police have remanded a trio following the alleged abduction of a teenage girl outside Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kepong, Selangor, on Friday.

According to a statement by Gombak district police chief Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, the girl’s father lodged a report over the incident which took place on the morning of Jan 5.

“At approximately 7am, a 17-year-old female student was forcibly taken from in front of SMK Kepong and taken to a homestay before being released back at 12 noon on the same day.

“Acting on this incident, at approximately 11.30pm on the same day, the police arrested two men and a woman who were suspected to be involved in this incident.

“The victim recognised one of the suspects as the victim’s ex-boyfriend, who was unhappy because the victim broke off the relationship,” said Noor Ariffin.

He said that police are investigating the case under Section 365 of the Criminal Code which states that whoever kidnaps or abducts any person with intent to cause that person to be secretly and wrongfully confined, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

“All those arrested have been remanded for four days from Jan 6-9,” he added.
