IPOH: A married couple has been arrested and placed in remand for a week on suspicion of misappropriating RM9.62 million in tithe collections by the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council.
Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri said the case is being investigated as one of criminal breach of trust.
The 50-year-old man and his 53-year-old wife, who were appointed as Perak zakat collection agents, were arrested in Kuala Lumpur at about 12.35pm yesterday. - FMT
