Blogger Papagomo pleaded not guilty to sedition involving a Facebook post that alleged the government is pro-Israel.
The accused, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, was charged over a post on the account of Facebook user Halid Hamidi (Halid Mat Kool) around 1pm on Nov 8 last year.
According to the charge read out to him during proceedings before the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, a separate Facebook user, Hisham Sharudin, saw the post of Azri - a former Umno member who is now in Bersatu.
Azri, 40, faces a maximum RM5,000 fine or jail term not exceeding three years if convicted under Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948.
Judge N Priscilla Hemamalini allowed Azri to be released on RM7,000 bail with one surety and set Feb 5 for mention of the case.
Counsel Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali acted for the accused.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P Kunyalam prosecuted.
