BUKIT MERTAJAM: Shamsul Iskandar Akin, the senior political secretary to the prime minister, has filed a police report against Bersatu’s Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, for linking him to abuse of funds of an NGO.
Shamsul said the allegation made in a Facebook post yesterday was baseless, not backed by evidence, and intended to tarnish the good name of the Prime Minister’s Office.
“I vehemently deny the malicious accusations that have been made against me and the Prime Minister’s Office,” he said after lodging the report at the Seberang Jaya police station here.
Badrul had said he was gathering evidence of alleged corruption by a senior political secretary to the prime minister. He alleged the aide’s staff and proxies were using their political allies to abuse NGO funds.
He said he would reveal the details on Jan 8, and hand over evidence to the authorities.
Shamsul called for an immediate investigation by the authorities. He said a report had also been lodged with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
Shamsul, a former MP, said a letter of demand would be sent to Badrul.
Seberang Perai Tengah police chief Tan Cheng San confirmed receiving the police report. He said the case has been handed over to the Putrajaya police headquarters because the case was recorded there. - FMT
