‘PN met Agong with 118 SDs’ fake news - opposition leader’s office

Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin’s office has denied a viral statement alleging that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had granted an audience to 118 MPs backing Perikatan Nasional along with their statutory declaration (SDs).

“It’s fake news,” Hamzah’s office said briefly today.

The now-debunked statement, which allegedly made its rounds on WhatsApp groups today, also detailed PN’s gratitude towards the bestowal of the Agong in the opposition’s effort to save the country.

It also said PN was confident that matters on forming a new administration would be finalised after the audience with the Agong.

Earlier today, Umno supreme council member Lokman Adam also debunked controversial blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin’s claims that the opposition has garnered 120 SDs through the Dubai Move to topple the coalition government.

In doing so, Lokman cited several reasons and “holes” to rubbish the claim by the pro-PN blogger, who’s living in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom.

“On Jan 5, Raja Petra claimed that the prime ministerial candidate in the Dubai Move was Tok Mat (Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan).

“The very next day, on Jan 6, he said the Dubai Move put forward three names as the PM candidate - former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein, Dr Sam (Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar), and Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Raja Petra conned himself (via this statement),” quipped Lokman.

Adding further, Lokman poked holes in Raja Petra’s theory by claiming the incoming Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar won’t allow any attempt to change the government.

This is while the current king, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has also issued a decree that he wants Anwar Ibrahim as the last prime minister during his reign.

No audience

Meanwhile, Sultan Ibrahim decreed that he would not grant any audience effective today (Jan 6) until Jan 31.

The Johor ruler will be crowned the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 31.

Taking to Facebook, the Royal Press Office said the ruler would only entertain events that have been fixed prior, his weekly meet with Johor menteri besar, as well as the state government.

“From today onwards, until I take my oath as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, I will not be accepting any more requests for an audience with me.

“During this time, I wish to spend quality time with my family before undertaking this enormous responsibility and trust,” he said. - Mkini
