The National Professors Council (NPC) is actively working to ensure that the implementation and impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the country yield significant benefits for the people.
NPC’s ICT cluster deputy chairperson, Rusli Abdullah said the council is currently working on producing more digital talent in Malaysia.
Simultaneously, the government is generating valuable information technology (IT) assets in selected local industries, which is a commendable initiative aimed at enhancing public understanding of AI and promoting digital literacy, he told Bernama TV.
Rusli was speaking as a guest on “The Brief” programme titled “Advancing Malaysia Through AI Technology” yesterday.
He added that Malaysia’s higher education system has also developed an adequate curriculum to ensure students can learn about AI in the business context.
Malaysia is also on the right track to building a strong digital infrastructure such as 5G technology that can expand AI development, he said.
Rosli also emphasised the need to address the digital inclusion index to ensure that residents in rural areas have access to digital services comparable to those in urban areas.
