Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan said the government is studying several improvements to the Budi diesel system, and expects to announce them within the next one to two months.
ADSBernama reported him as saying that these measures include simplifying the application process, relaxing the eligibility criteria for taking over hire-purchase payments, and allowing quotas to be transferred to immediate family members.
Commenting on the implementation of the said targeted subsidy in Sabah, Amir said about 120,000 pickup truck and jeep owners in the state had been identified as eligible to apply for a diesel subsidy quota exceeding 300 litres.
However, he said only about 49,000 eligible vehicle owners have registered and submitted their applications so far.
Education director-general Azam Ahmad said the growing complexity of challenges faced by Malaysia’s education sector called for stronger and more comprehensive measures to protect students and ensure their safety across the country’s 10,258 schools.
Bernama quoted him as saying that the Education Ministry received reports of students being injured almost every day, while cases involving deaths had exceeded 10 on certain days.
Against this backdrop, Azam said the Student Protection Policy, together with clear protocols, would help educators discharge their responsibilities professionally while dealing with emerging challenges.
Azam Ahmad Introduced through a circular dated July 1, the policy requires school personnel and external parties who interact with schools to sign a compliance letter, signifying their commitment to upholding student safety.
During the student protection policy dialogue broadcast on the MOE’s YouTube channel, Azam reportedly said that the education landscape had also become more challenging as children were growing up in a digital environment, coming into contact with various external influences at a younger age. - Mkini
