SHAH ALAM:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim shared in the festive joy at the Deepavali open house organised by MIC and the Maju Institute of Educational Development (MIED) at the Mansion Oncidium Hall in Kota Kemuning, here, today.

He was welcomed by MIC president and MIED chairman SA Vigneswaran at the Festival of Lights celebration attended by nearly 3,000 guests from various ethnic backgrounds.

Anwar spent time mingling with guests and dining with several political leaders, including former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and MCA president Wee Ka Siong.

Vigneswaran said the celebration showed that Malaysians could live in harmony and share in the joy of festivals throughout the year.

“This proves that celebrations like this are a clear platform for integration among the (various) races. Although there may be differences in political backgrounds, they can be put aside for the sake of togetherness at such events,” he said.

Wee said the event was not only lively but also reflected the unique diversity of Malaysians.

“This is truly the spirit of goodwill that has long existed among Malaysians and it must be preserved for the prosperity of our beloved country,” he said.

At the event, Vigneswaran and Wee accompanied Anwar who cut a cake to mark the highlight of this year’s open house celebration. - FMT
