DIGP mum on 1MDB probe, passes the buck to top cop

Deputy inspector-general of police Noor Rashid Ibrahim is tightlipped about developments in relation to the police investigation into the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) report on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
This, he said, is because the matter is under the purview of inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.
“I can’t answer that question as it is being handled by the IGP,” Noor Rashid told reporters at the Bukit Aman police headquarters today when asked about developments into the police investigation, which has entered its third month.
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang had expressed that he was wondering what had happened to the police investigation into the PAC’s report on 1MDB.
Lim also expressed surprise that police might not have a copy of the 1MDB audit report, on which the PAC report is based.
This was in relation to Khalid's statement that police would have to check with auditor-general Ambrin Buang whether the alleged 1MDB audit documents leaked by Sarawak Report were genuine.
The 1MDB audit documents have been kept classified under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).
Critics claimed that keeping the auditor-general's findings secret showed that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has something to hide.
Noor Rashid also said that he was not in the know when asked about developments in the investigations into the death of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s son-in-law Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi.
This is because the case is being investigated by Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh.
“Ask Amar Singh. I don’t know the developments with regard to the case,” Noor Rashid said.

Police have recorded statements from 11 individuals in relation to investigations into the death of Syed Alman, who died after undergoing dental surgery at a clinic in Bangsar.
After falling unconscious during the procedure, Syed Alman was rushed to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, where he was confirmed dead.
The case is being investigated under Section 304 of the Penal Code for causing death. - mkini
