Kok wants Putrajaya to explain Nancy’s ‘demotion’

The "demotion" of Nancy Shukri in the Prime Minister's Department proves the Federal Government doesn’t appreciate PBB.
teresa-nancyKUALA LUMPUR: The government owes the public, particularly Sarawakians, an explanation for the transfer of Nancy Shukri to a less important portfolio, said Seputeh MP Teresa Kok in a statement. “It’s clear and obvious that this was indeed a demotion.”
It was “subtle retaliation” against Nancy for not going with “the Najib flow”, she claimed. “Isn’t this also not a ‘slap on the face’ of the Sarawakian minister?”
The “demotion” of Nancy was also an “affront”, after the resounding victory of Barisan Nasional (BN) Sarawak led by Adenan Satem in the recent Sarawak election.
The “demotion” of Nancy in the Prime Minister’s Department proves the Federal Government doesn’t appreciate the phenomenal efforts put in by PBB in the recent Sarawak elections.
Hence, she reckons, the so-called devolving of more autonomy to Sarawak was only a “farce” as it was not likely to materialize. “It’s evident from this that the Sarawakians will never see any significant changes.”
Kok reiterated that the transfer of Nancy, from the law portfolio in the Prime Minister’s Department to a less important portfolio, was the ‘reward’ for the resounding victory of BN Sarawak in the recent state election.
The MP was also expressing surprise that Azalina Othman Said has taken over the law portfolio from Nancy. Interestingly, she said, the announcement was made more than two weeks after the transfer of the portfolio in late June.
Kok noted that Nancy has been tasked with the less important portfolio held previously by Mah Siew Keong viz. Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), National Innovation Agency and the Malaysia Nuclear Power Corporation.
