KUALA LUMPUR - Police have launched an investigation to identify the person behind a voice clip which had called on triad members to assemble at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman tomorrow (Friday).
The voice clip, which has been circulating via messaging applications and social media, claimed that police have been issued orders to shoot 179 people, including two criminals, without trial. The message claimed that the move was part of a racial conspiracy.
City police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh slammed the allegations as baseless. “This is a seditious message that could lead to racial disharmony. Investigations are ongoing to identify the person behind the clip,” he said in a statement.
He said police would not hesitate to take action under the Sedition Act 1948 against anyone who spreads such rumours.
