Sarawak Report publishes 1MDB audit report in full

Show more reactions
Whistleblower website Sarawak Report has published in full the auditor-general's report on 1MDB, which is still sealed under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).
"We have re-typed the entire report in order to frustrate attempts to persecute whistleblowers, so please excuse any typing errors. The text is an exact replica," it said in a posting yesterday.
Malaysiakini cannot reproduce the text due to legal constraints.
Anyone guilty of unauthorised distribution or possession of classified documents faces a mandatory two-year jail term.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak said leaking classified information is treason as it undermines national security.

He said this in reference to the Sarawak Report leaks.
Former Umno senator Ezam Mohd Nor, who was sentenced to two years in jail for publishing classified information, said it was a mistake to use the OSA to seal the 1MDB audit report.
Transparency International Malaysia also urged the government to declassify the document.
The document remained sealed, even though the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) reports which cites the audit was tabled in Parliament in April.- Mkini
